I have had a rapid drill slim for a few years. We use it strictly for drilling ½" holes in 3-½" diameter schedule 40 pipe.
We did have a young fellow apply way to much pressure and bend the clamps.
We made our own custom clamps. They did not work as well.
We also built our own holder out of a U bolt to help hols our dewalt drill. This was only necessary with our home made clamps.
I ave recently purchased two additional Rapid drills. The full size.
I really appreciate this product.
I am a carpenter. I do not work with steel every day. We install helical piles for decks and additions. We drill the piles to fasten the caps.
This tool has cut this drilling time in half and we go through fewer bits.
We use it in conjunction with a milwaukee step bit and a dewalt drill.
I am completely impressed with how effective this is. I used it with my Dewalt to drill ten 1/2” holes through 3/8” steel plate, and it probably took me under 5 minutes total from start to finish. And it made it really easy - I didn’t get tired out at all. I wish I would have found this earlier!
